Dog Obedience Classes Begin May 9th & 11th

Basic, Intermediate & Advanced Dog Obedience classes begin May 9th & 11th and space is limited at the Gardiner Center, 9421 Bainbridge Rd.

  • Dogs taking these classes should be comfortable being around other dogs and have not demonstrated any behavioral concerns around people or other dogs.
  • Classes are not meant for dog aggressive dogs
  • Trainer reserves the right to make adjustments as necessary to class enrollment
  • Please indicate name and breed of dog on the registration form.
  • Please bring a 6-foot leash, training collar, and soft dog treats. No Flex-leashes.

Basic Dog Obedience

Richard DiMarco, an experienced dog trainer, will assist you in teaching your dog to walk without pulling, to stay, to come when called, and to down when told. The dog will learn good manners when in public and around other dogs.

Dogs must be five months or older (younger dogs with vet approval). Bring your dog the first night, as well as proof of current vaccinations including rabies, Parvo etc.  Please indicate name and breed of dog on the registration form. Please bring a 6-foot leash, training collar, and soft dog treats. No Flex-leashes. Limited enrollment.


Intermediate Dog Obedience

Development of proficiency with heeling, down and sit stay, and increasing dog’s reliable response to commands. Developing reliable attention (focus) for those interested in future competition or therapy work. The requirements to pass the AKC Good Citizen Test will be trained and practiced.

Handlers and dogs must have completed a basic dog obedience class and demonstrate working knowledge of heeling, down and sit stay with handlers close by. Dogs will be evaluated during first class. Limited enrollment.


Advanced Dog Obedience

Previous successful completion of Basic and Intermediate Dog Obedience is required.

Dogs must have proficiency in heeling, sit stay, down stay, and recall commands. Class will continue obedience development toward active competition in Rally, Obedience, and other performance venues. Students will learn the AKC Rally signs while perfecting their obedience skills. This class will have students of various skill levels with some students preparing to begin competitive obedience. Dogs will be evaluated first night. Limited enrollment.
