About the Kenston Youth Football (KYF)

General Program Information for the 2024 Season

MANDATORY REGISTRATION DEADLINE to register is May 31st

FALL SEASON: July through October
Kenston Youth Tackle Football will be playing in the Great Lakes Youth Football League.
League games will be on Saturdays and/or Sundays.

PRICE BREAKDOWN
* Mighty Mites fee includes practice jersey and other equipment except for cleats/cup
* JV & Varsity fee includes practice jersey and other equipment except for cleats/cup
* Additional fee for Custom Game Jersey
– Game jersey is required for all new players
– Game jersey is optional for returning players
– Returning players can use last season’s jersey or purchase a new one
– Returning players must bring last year’s jersey to equipment fitting

EQUIPMENT and JERSEY FITTING at Auburn Community Park
* Mandatory for all players to attend one of the four dates in early June
– ALL players must attend at least one fitting
– Be prepared to give height and weight
– Be prepared to run a 40-yd dash
– Be prepared to give top 3 jersey number request

We will use the same uniforms for the 2024 season. Returning players can wear their jerseys from last season. You will also need to bring your jerseys to equipment fitting to confirm they still fit. For new players, please note that the jerseys are customized to fit your player, with your last name on the back and a custom/chosen number.

Typically, last week of July at Auburn Community Park 6-8 pm
Mighty Mites – 3 days (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday)
Varsity/JV – 4 days (Monday – Thursday)

MANDATORY CONTACT EVALUATION DATE
Typically, the first Saturday in August at Auburn Community Park (ACP)
For new players only who are new to Kenston Youth Tackle

TEAM ROSTERS
Teams will be finalized by first Sunday in August at program draft
Teams will be announced at practice on first practice in August

FOOTBALL PRACTICES
Mighty Mites – 3 days per week, then 2 days per week once school starts
Varsity/JV – 4 days per week, then 3 days per week once school starts
Practice schedules will be set by coaches
Thursday’s will be pizza night throughout the season!

GAMES
League Scrimmage Dates (TBD) – Typically, the second weekend in August
First Official Games (TBD) – Typically, the third weekend in August
Potential for Playoffs/Championship Games through last weekend in October

ATTENTION PARENTS
– MUST READ the concussion info sheet
– Must complete the Lindsay’s Law training
– Must turn in player’s birth certificate
– Must acknowledge the concessions requirement
Note: All equipment is included, except cleats and cup
Note: All equipment must be returned at end of season except jerseys

CONCESSIONS REQUIREMENT
Families are required to work two (1-2hr) shifts over the course of season. Shifts include:
– Snack window during weekday ACP practices
– Thursday pizza nights
– Game day concessions at Bomber Stadium
Families can opt out, but it is preferred that they work their required shifts
Families can opt out at any time by paying an $100 fee through KCE


Mighty Mites – Grades 1 – 2

Kenston Travel Youth Football League for players entering 1st and 2nd grade in the Fall.

MIGHTY MITES AGE & WEIGHT RESTRICTIONS:
– Teams are made up of 6- and 7-year-olds
– Player must be at least 6 years old on or before June 1st
– Player cannot be 8 years old on or before June 1st
– No max weight limit but player must be under 90 lbs. with full pads to be a ball handler

JV – Grades 3 – 4

– Teams are made up of 8- and 9-year-olds
– Player must be 8 on or before June 1st
– Player cannot be 10 on or before June 1st
– Max weight is 150 lbs. with full pads
– Player cannot be over 125 lbs. with full pads and be a ball handler

Varsity – Grades 5 – 6

– Teams are made up of 10- and 11-year-olds
– Player must be 10 on or before June 1st
– Player cannot be 12 on or before June 1st
– Exception: 12-year-old players who are in the 6th grade are eligible unless they turn 13 before November 1st. Player must provide report card/school transcript to prove they were in 5th grade the previous year.
– Max weight is 170 lbs. with full pads
– Player cannot be over 135 lbs. with full pads and be a ball handler
