Air Quality and Outdoor Activities
The health and safety of our participants, volunteers, and staff is our highest priority. At the same time, we recognize that every participant has different health considerations and tolerances regarding outdoor conditions.
Kenston Community Education (KCE) will continue to conduct scheduled outdoor practices, games, and activities unless the local County Health Department or other appropriate public health authority (ie: Ohio EPA) issues guidance requiring individuals to remain indoors or otherwise directs that outdoor recreational activities should not take place.
If outdoor activities remain permitted by public health officials:
- KCE programs will proceed as scheduled.
- Parents and guardians are encouraged to monitor current air quality conditions and make the decision they believe is best for their child and family.
- Participants with asthma, respiratory conditions, heart conditions, or other health concerns should consult their healthcare provider regarding participation during periods of poor air quality.
- Coaches and program staff should encourage participants to stay hydrated and allow additional rest breaks when appropriate.
If the County Health Department or other appropriate public health authority advises that individuals should remain indoors or determines that outdoor activities should be suspended, KCE will cancel or postpone outdoor programs until conditions improve.
We respect that families may choose not to participate during periods of reduced air quality, even when activities continue as scheduled. We ask that participants notify their coach or program coordinator if they will be absent.
Our goal is to provide safe recreational opportunities while also recognizing that each family is in the best position to make decisions regarding their own health and well-being.
